Recently, the Integrated Hydrogenation and Gasification Technical Upgrade Project of XinNeng Energy Co., Ltd., EPC-contracted by Xindi Energy Engineering Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Xindi Energy Engineering"), has achieved full process flow integration, producing qualified products including LNG, crude benzene oil, naphtha, and semi coke. The coal hydrogenation pyrolysis gasification integrated gasifier has successfully completed the coal commissioning test and achieved safe, stable, and continuous coal feeding operation for 31 days, successfully passing the performance tests organized by China Coal Processing and Utilization Association.

The main work of Xindi Energy Engineering in this technical upgrade project includes the renovation of systems including hydrogenation pyrolysis integrated gasifier, hydrogen heating furnace, and semi coke separation, as well as associated pipelines and auxiliary facilities. To ensure the safe, efficient, and orderly progress of the project, Xindi Energy Engineering has maintained close communication with the owner XinNeng Energy Co., Ltd., and the technology provider ENN Technology Development Co., Ltd. After nearly a hundred discussions and planning, a reasonable design plan, key equipment procurement plan, and on-site key process construction plan have been formulated. The upgrade project has passed the final completion inspection and acceptance in one go.
During the coal feeding trial operation, through the joint efforts of all three parties, the project not only achieved the seamless switching between two operating conditions—"high temperature and high gas" and "low temperature and high oil"—but also obtained complete experimental data, successfully passing the performance test organized by China Coal Processing and Utilization Association. The expert group unanimously believes that under the design process conditions (6.5-7.0MPa, 830-950 ℃), the pulverized coal hydrogenation gasification coproduction aromatics and methane unit has achieved full load industrial demonstration operation, meeting relevant requirements of the indicators of performance test, and the proportion of oil and gas products can be adjusted through parameter adjustment.
The successful commissioning fully verified the feasibility, safety, and economy of the project renovation and upgrading, and mainly achieved three results. One is through the transformation of the integrated gasification furnace for hydrogenation pyrolysis, which eliminates the limitation on the particle size of semi coke in fluidized bed equipment and improves the applicability of coal types. Secondly, through the renovation of the hydrogen heating furnace, the hydrogen heating system has been simplified, the high-temperature hydrogen pipeline has been shortened, effectively reducing the safety risks and construction costs of high-temperature equipment and pipelines, and improving the overall energy efficiency and safety of the system. The third is to improve the gas-solid separation efficiency and meet the emission requirements of semi coke distribution through the transformation of the quick separation internal components.
Next, Xindi Energy Engineering will fully accumulate the EPC contracting experience of this technical upgrade project, providing robust support for the subsequent implementation of coal quality-grading and classification utilization projects.
Regarding the technology of coal hydrogenation pyrolysis gasification for co-production of aromatics and methane
The coal hydrogenation pyrolysis gasification technology for co-producing aromatic hydrocarbons and methane is a new type of coal classification and quality-grading utilization technology independently developed by ENN. It can not only achieve efficient and clean conversion of coal to natural gas, but also produce high value-added light aromatic hydrocarbons as by-products; This technology combines the advantages of coal to gas and coal to oil, and through cascade utilization and full price development, truly achieves clean, efficient, and comprehensive utilization of coal resources, providing a new path for the utilization of low-grade coal in China.
